Junior Toastmasters Club

Zuriberg supports the creation of a new Toastmasters club for young people!
Launching in 2018 is the Junior Toastmasters Club.

Aim

To set up a ‘Junior Toastmasters Club’ (working title) in Zürich.  It will offer an informal meeting environment, encouraging for young people (c.15 – 21 years old), to practise public speaking and evaluation, learn organisational skills, team building and exercise responsibility.

Programme

The members could focus on the first 6 speeches of the CC manuals or use the club as a platform to train their presentations for school/college. To discuss with the Junior members.  Meetings to run on a weekday evening every second week adapted to students’ schedule.

Cost and sustainability

Almost the only cost planned is room hire (we currently have two options).  With 20 motivated members, costs should be covered and allow the continuation of the project.  Responsibility lies with the junior members to achieve financial break-even in 2018. Likely membership fee of CHF. 60.- per term/trimester.

Support from the Zürich Toastmasters community

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Spread the word
  2. Offer to mentor – we need 2 or 3 additional Toastmasters NOW to provide easy mentoring
  3. Financially – for the local clubs to subsidize at the beginning.  One idea is through a one-off loan that would be reimbursed if the club takes off
  4. Room – do you know anyone with a cheap or free room available?

Dates: First meeting on Tuesday 23d January 2018.

Promotional meeting on Tuesday 9th January 2018 (2 weeks before the first meeting) at Starbucks Stauffacher, 1st floor.

Key mentor: Kyle P Bullus
